Subject : Complaint regarding Auto driver misconduct at Mumbai Airport on 12.02.2026 , MH02GL3653
Respected Sir/Madam,
I would like to bring to your notice a serious incident that occurred while I was deboarding a flight at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on 12.02.2026 at approximately 12:53 PM.
After exiting the terminal, I proceeded to the designated auto stand. There was a proper passenger queue as well as an auto queue. When our turn came, we boarded the auto. The driver started moving the vehicle without switching on the auto meter. We found this suspicious and requested him to turn on the meter. He refused, stating that the meter was not working and claimed that no one uses the meter at the airport.
I then asked him how much he would charge to drop us at Bandra Railway Station, as we had a railway journey onward to Vapi. He demanded ₹350. I informed the driver of this and offered ₹100. He refused and insisted on ₹300.
When we asked him to stop the auto, instead of complying, he accelerated the vehicle. We repeatedly requested him to stop, but our efforts went in vain as he continued driving faster. I started shouting for help and alerted the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel who were present nearby, but the auto was moving at high speed.
One of my colleagues, Mr. Shashi Kiran, was forced to jump out of the moving auto due to the dangerous situation. Only then did the driver stop the vehicle. Immediately, CISF personnel gathered at the spot and detained the auto driver. We explained the entire incident to them.
I would like to highlight that we are employees of HAL Helicopter Division Bangalore and were deputed to the Daman Coast Guard Unit for repair work on a Chetak helicopter. We were carrying valuable helicopter spare parts at the time. Even now, we remain concerned about the driver’s intentions, especially since he refused to stop the auto despite repeated requests.
I have attached photographs related to the incident for your reference. I kindly request you to take strict action against the auto driver to prevent such dangerous incidents in the future and to ensure passenger safety at the airport.
Thanking you.
Yours sincerely,
Shivamurti
