Sir I arrived from LHR on 14th morning at Mumbai Airport – flight no AI130 at approx 1040 am . Collected bags and went to Red line around 11.30 am, declared I have pound currency 30,000 in cash wish to declare as i too have also declared at Heathrow Airport as well. I was directed to have this recounted at a Counting centre / bank next to desks with officers in charge. I was served by a man in his 30+ – he counted in front of me in matchines 2 of them and handed over the cash -which were in bills of 50 and 20’s. He counted 30,000 and wrote on a piece of paper 30,000 pounds / stamped it. I did not recount as it would take too long and trusted the person being at an airport / bank at official customs supported. I was asked hy an officer to provide my passport + my UK declaration and boarding pass. I was asked has the cas been counted ? I said yes as per my dealing with the bank staff. I got home and 2 days later wanted to change it and to my shock 10,000 was missing ( less) – the staff had taken money out whilst he was collecting from machine and as the machine was in front of me and he was behind it and I could not see! I did not think anything of this thinking I am in a safe place with formal bank customs backed counting centre! I would like to report this and to be looked at urgently, plesae i can be contacted on UK no 44 07955148103 OR India no – 91 8401103923. My passport no – 141238483 . In all my travels at airports I have never seen anything like this – an international airport staff can do this to tourists who follow all legal rules . I look forward to bearing from you .
