To,

The Airport Authority of India,

This email is to bring to your notice that, I, Ms. Kinjal Shah, suffered grievous injury due to an accident at the T2 international Airport, Mumbai on
8th Aug ’23 at around 11:15PM. Refer to the summary of the accident below.

1. After landing from the Air India flight-AI 573 at the Mumbai T2 airport, I headed to the Auto Rickshaw stand where the
entire bamboo shed collapsed and crashed onto me leading to multiple injuries. For some time, I was too shocked to comprehend the incident.
2. First aid was provided at the airport by Dr. Karishma post which I requested for the ambulance to the Nanavati Hospital.
3. The accident led to the fracture of the right frontal bone with subgaleal hematoma, soft tissue injury of the hand and bruises on leg.
4. I have attached a summary of the report, for detailed report, you may contact Nanavati hospital

This accident has not only caused immense physical pain but also led to my emotional breakdown, mental trauma, monetary losses, exhaustion to me and my family and developing a fear of objects falling over me.
I have lost my leaves and pay at the workplace, have had to cancel planned future travel and put my extra classes on hold.
I have still not recovered completely and not been able to resume my routine activities. My hand still hurts while I type this email.
I am also left with the scars of wounds on my face.

I would also want to bring to your notice that one of your staff mentioned that he had reported the loosened bamboo structure to the concerned airport department a few days before this incident but no action was taken. Had the timely maintenance been done, this incident could have been easily averted. This is a case of total negligence putting the lives of the passengers and staff at risk.
To my shock, there has been no official written apology from the airport.

After I enquired about the future safety measures, I have been informed by Dr. More(Head of Medical dept at Airport) that the bamboo sheds were removed after this accident and the vendor was fired. I hope, no such negligence will occur in the future that can claim a person’s life.

Hospital expense was borne by the airport. I have been assured by Dr. More that any future expenses resulting from this injury will be borne by the Airport.
Requesting written undertaking from your end to bear all future direct or indirect expenses, if incurred, resulting from this injury.
Please reach out to me should you require any further details

Regards,
Kinjal Shah
