Dear Customer Services
a colleague and myself flew back from Mumbai Airport to the UK on 11 March 2023 (BA0198). We each had baby scissors in our hand luggage, that are very small and completely rounded at the ends. I have had mine for many years and travelled everywhere with them including to Mumbai several times – always in my hand luggage. However, on Saturday 11 March the security person at the conveyor belt/scanning machine (about 11.30am-12pm) insisted on confiscating these scissors. It was impossible to explain to him that they were completely harmless, despite the obvious fact they were rounded.

Official Indian government aviation websites make it very clear that only sharp scissors are not allowed; yet the security person had no idea.

“Scissors-metal with pointed tips”

Please feedback to security staff to become familiar with what is actually disallowed, in order to avoid disappointed passengers passing through.

many thanks
