Mumbai airport security check staff

On 29th Oct , around 9:30 pm , when I was operating as a crew and was passing through security check at mumbai International Airport, I had some expensive candles in my bag which I was asked to remove as candles were not allowed in hand carry bag. When I asked the security staff if I can check those in , they refused. I told the cathay ground handling agent to take itfrom the security and keep it and my driver will pick it up the next day. But the security only gave 3 sets of candles out of 4. 1 expensive candle went missing. I want to know how did it go missing ???
