Hi,
I’m a citizen of Tajikistan flying (on Aug 6, 2024) from Thailand to Abu Dhabi, UAE with a 5 hour layover in Mumbai.
In Mumbai (BOM) airport i’ll need to check-in for my connecting flight to UAE (by Etihad Airways).
I don’t have a luggage and don’t want to leave the transit area of BOM (i will arrive to the Terminal 2 and depart also).
From searching the web, looks like BOM airport allows transfers to connecting flights without leaving the transit area.
> … the connection lane is just before the immigration hall. There you will find the airline desks and they can issue you a boarding pass…
According to the Embassy of India in Bangkok:
> Travellers who stay in the Transit Area at the Airports in India do not need Transit Visa.
But i do have two separate tickets (DMK to BOM by Thai Lion Air, then BOM to AUH, by Etihad) booked separately.
So, i somehow need to check-in for my onward departure (i don’t have luggage).
Can you please clarify that i can transfer without passing the border control (clear immigration) and that i can check-in for my departure with Etihad Airways, in the air-side area of BOM Terminal 2?
Otherwise, is it technically possible to check-in for my onward Etihad flight without the Indian Transit visa?
Thanks for you kind attention!
PS: Apologies to contact you with this matter, but unfortunately my messages to feedback@csia.gvk.com and appellate.authority@gvk.com have been “blocked” (i.e. my email could not be delivered due to Outlook mail server on their end), and i have only few days before my flight to apply for the transit visa if required.
