A. CSIA operates domestic airlines – SpiceJet, IndiGo and GoAir from Terminal 1 located at Santacruz (E), Mumbai and the airlines Vistara, AirIndia and Jet Airways from Terminal 2 located at Sahar, Andheri (E), Mumbai. All the international operations are carried out from Terminal 2.

Q. How many cities does Mumbai Airport connect to?

A. As of April 2017, 44 different passenger airlines and 15 different freight airlines operate to 47 international destinations in total. On the domestic front, 7 different passenger airlines and 1 freight airline operate to 47 domestic destinations as a whole.

ARRIVALS

Q. What are the standard procedures that need to be completed on arrival in Mumbai?

A. International passengers – Upon arrival, a clearance from immigrations and customs is a must for all the passengers travelling internationally. There are seperate check points for both immigrations and customs.

All passengers of foreign nationality arriving in Mumbai will need to fill in the arrival card and present the same with a valid passport & visa at the immigration counter. It is mandatory that the passport has a validity of at least 6 months.

All Indian nationals arriving in Mumbai will need to clear immigrations by presenting the valid travel documents i.e. passport and visa.

Post clearance from immigrations and customs all the passengers may collect their respective baggage/s from the baggage hall and proceed towards the arrival exit.

Domestic passengers – On arrival, domestic passengers may collect their baggage/s from the baggage hall and proceed towards the arrival exit.

Q. Who all require a visa to enter India?

A. All foreign nationals entering India need a valid visa.

Q. What are the different duty free allowances for the passengers arriving via international flights in Mumbai?

A. All passengers arriving in India are eligible for duty free allowances. The rules for the allowance may vary according to the passenger’s duration of stay abroad, resident country and age.

Q. What are the protocols for carrying currency that one needs to adhere to while traveling internationally to/from Mumbai?

A. Passengers carrying foreign currency beyond value of USD 5000 or equivalent (in cash) or foreign exchange including currency of a total value of USD 10,000 or equivalent will need to declare this information to customs.

International passengers can book a hotel stay on arrival by visiting the hotel reservation desk located on level 1 at T2. Passengers arriving via domestic flights can book a hotel from the reservation counters on their way to arrival exit at T1.

Q. Where are the Money changer/Foreign Exchange counters located?

A. Terminal 2 – Money changer/Foreign Exchange counters are situated at departures (level 4), arrival (level 2) and Ground Transportation Lobby (level 1) at Terminal 2.

Terminal 1 – At Terminal 1, the counters are situated at the arrival and departure halls.

A. The left luggage facility (cloak room) is available at Terminal 1 and Terminal (T2) at the arrival hall. Passengers may leave their luggage at these facilities for a period of maximum 90 days.

A. The medical room at International Terminal (T2) is located near check-in island L at the departure level 4 and arrival corridor of the South West Pier at Level 2. The medical room at Domestic Terminal 1 is located in departure area next to check-in counter 1.

Q. Where is the Pharmacy located at Mumbai Airport?

A. Apollo Pharmacy at International Terminal operates from the Medical Room behind check-in island M at the departure level 4.

Q. Post check-in, what benefits do the passengers travelling first class get at Mumbai Airport?

A. International passengers travelling first class can proceed towards dedicated security and immigrations through dedicated first class lanes post check-in at T2.

DEPARTURES

Q. Does Mumbai Airport offer an early check in facility?

A. Currently, Mumbai Airport does not have any such facility.

Q. What is the check-in baggage allowance?

A. As per the standard guidelines, passengers are permitted to carry 15 kgs and 30 kgs baggage when they travel to domestic and international sectors respectively. The check-in baggage allowance may vary for different airlines. Hence, it is recommended that the passengers consult the concerned airline for more details.

Q. What is the hand baggage allowance?

A. As per the standard guidelines, passengers are permitted to carry along one baggage not exceeding 7 kgs in the cabin with them. However, the cabin baggage allowance may vary for different airlines. Hence, it is recommended that the passengers consult the concerned airline for more details.

Q. How early can I check in for my flight?

A. The check-in time starts at least three hours before the departure time for any International flight and two hours prior for any Domestic flight. The check-in commencement time may vary by airline. Hence, it is recommended that the passengers consult the concerned airline for more details.

Q. Are pets allowed in public areas of Mumbai Airport?

A. Pets are not permitted in the public areas of the airport. Exceptions to this include Dogs in the service of statutory authorities, Guide Dogs accompanying persons with sight disability and animals which are to travel on, or unloaded from, an aircraft.

Q. What are the immigration requirements for a passenger of Indian and Foreign nationality?

A. Clearance from the immigration checkpoints is a must for all the passengers.

All passengers of foreign nationality need to produce valid travel documents i.e. passport and visa.

All Indian nationals have to complete an Embarkation Card and present valid travel documents i.e. passport and visa (if applicable) before proceeding for immigration clearance. It is mandatory that the passport has a validity of at least 6 months.

Q. What are the applicable restrictions for Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs)?

A. To protect travellers from the threat of liquid explosives, there are rules for taking liquids, aerosols and gels on flights. (I) Liquid, aerosol or gel products must be in containers of 100 millilitres or less. (2) The containers must be carried in one transparent, re-sealable plastic bag. Only one bag is allowed for each passenger. (3) Containers larger than 100 millilitres, even if only partially-filled, will not be allowed through the security screening point.

Q. What is the process for obtaining export certificate for precious jewellery(Jewellery, Gem stones, etc.)?

A. Passengers travelling with precious jewellery from Mumbai need to submit a certificate to customs while departing from Mumbai. This certificate needs can be obtained minimum 1 day in advance of your date of travel. The certificate will be issued by PCCCC – Precious Cargo Customs Clearance Centre, which is located at Bharat Diamond Bourse, G Block, Bandra Kurla Complex, Bandra (East), Mumbai 400051.

TRANSIT

Q. What are the transfer/transit processes for the passengers arriving from an international flight and connecting to a domestic flight?

A. On arrival, passengers are first expected to clear Immigrations and customs. Post the same they can proceed towards the baggage claim area.After collecting their luggage, transiting passengers should proceed towards the re-check counters located post customs towards the arrival hall (take a left turn).

Post checking in, passengers will be guided towards the Transit Holding Area. In case the domestic flight is within the International Terminal, passengers may take the elevator which will take them to the departure hall located at level 4.

In this, if the passenger is having an IndiGo, Go Air or SpiceJet flight, they need to be addressed with information such as going to Terminal 1 to catch the connecting flights. Air India & Jet Airways can check in from the same terminal itself & Vistara for operations from Terminal 2.

Q. Can a passenger exit the terminal while transiting?

A. To exit the terminal while in transit, passengers would need a valid transit visa.

Q. If a transiting passenger has kept his/her medication in the check-in baggage, is there a way to retrieve it?

A. Transiting passengers are recommended to keep their medication as well as other essentials in the hand baggage with appropriate doctors prescriptions.

LOST AND FOUND

Q. How do passengers get to know about the recovery of their lost/left behind belongings in the aircraft or at the airport?

Q. Whom should the lost items be handed over to, in case they are found by a passenger?

A. For safety reasons passengers are advised not to handle any unclaimed bag / items left inside an aircraft / airport directly.

In any such case, passengers are requested to immediately contact the airline staff on duty or the Terminal Manager.
