Subject: Urgent: Formal Complaint Regarding Unfortunate Incident at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Terminal 2

To Whom It May Concern,

It is with a heavy heart and a sense of deep dismay that I pen this letter to bring to your attention a distressing incident that transpired earlier today at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Terminal 2, involving an unfortunate encounter during the security checkpoint process.

As a dedicated government servant, I arrived at the airport premises in a formal attire in adherence to my duty as well as the airport guidelines. My boarding details are as follows:

Departure Terminal: T2
Flight No: 6E6525
Gate: 40B
Boarding Time: 0515 Hours
Boarding: Zone 1
Seat: 23A
Date: 9 August 2023
Departure: 0610 Hrs
Services: CPML, FFWD, LBG, PRBG, SUPR
PNR: TTDDGG
Despite arriving well ahead of time, at approximately 4:30 a.m., I was determined to cooperate seamlessly with the security personnel to ensure a smooth check-in experience. With utmost diligence, I followed the prescribed instructions, promptly removing my wristwatch, belt, and meticulously segregating all electronic devices for screening. Upon being directed, I also complied without hesitation when asked to remove my formal shoes for inspection. Swiftly, I placed my shoes on the provided trolley for scanning and resumed the screening process.

To my astonishment, during the subsequent scanning process without my shoes, I observed another individual pass through security without having to remove his footwear. This led me to inquire politely of the security officer whether there exists a specific category of shoes that must be removed and those that need not. Regrettably, my query was met with curt dismissal and an admonition to not engage in argumentation.

Remaining resolute in maintaining decorum, I calmly noted the disparity in treatment and attempted to convey my concern. This interaction was met with escalating hostility, leading to an exhaustive and intrusive security scanning, during which an alarm was triggered by a metallic button concealed within the pocket of my formal trousers. As instructed, I partially disrobed the longpant to facilitate the necessary inspection. It is pertinent to mention that I was also wearing a half pant (in hurry) that regratably contained a small metallic pocket button.

However, what followed was a comment regarding my attire, suggesting that my choice of clothing was ‘awkward.’ Feeling deeply humiliated, I shared that the dress had been chosen due to exigencies beyond my control. In response, I was met with a reproachful statement asserting the alleged insensitivity of my attire. In a further disheartening turn, I was required to apologize for my conduct before being allowed to proceed.

As I continued with my journey, the words lingered, the encounter etched into my memory as a profoundly distressing episode. I am enclosing a photograph of the exact attire I was donning at that moment for your reference, along with the hope that the attached image may assist in identifying the personnel in question through the CCTV footage.

The essence of this complaint is rooted in a plea for understanding, equity, and unbiased treatment for every individual passing through your esteemed institution. The incident not only left me emotionally shaken but raised concerns about the potential perpetuation of prejudice within a professional environment. It is my fervent belief that our diverse nation, India, thrives on the principles of inclusivity and unity, transcending all barriers of caste, race, and creed.

I implore you, therefore, to take appropriate measures in addressing this unfortunate occurrence, and in doing so, reiterate the commitment of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Terminal 2 to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, fairness, and respect for all individuals.

I eagerly await your response and details of the steps taken to address this matter promptly. It is my sincere hope that we can amicably resolve this situation, preventing any further escalation. Should your response not be forthcoming, I am left with no choice but to explore alternative avenues for redressal.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I remain hopeful for a positive resolution.

Warmest Regards,
