I am senior citizen, 72 years old. On 29th of Jan 2025, evening (after 4 pm) I had a flight to board from Terminals 2, Domestic by Air India.
The time was approximately between 16.30 and 16:50 when I reached the entry Gate scanner point after domestic security check.
There were few small mini trolleys available which are used for carrying cabin baggage. I was carrying my cabin baggage in a trolley. The security guard rudely conveyed trolleys are not allowed.
I explained to him this is a small cabin trolley which are carried up to the gate. I also told him there is no instruction or board that trolleys are not allowed. I requested him to call any senior person. He says I am senior and there is no one else.
He did not agree and one CISF staff told me this is not allowed. However, CISF staff agreed that he has seen such trolleys being used at Delhi airport. He also had no explanation why there is no written board displaying such a rule.
The mini trolleys are provided for passengers to carry cabin baggage and any other items they buy from the airport shops. This is useful for senior citizens and passengers with children etc.
incidentally trolleys were found in the departure area near gates also.
I then left my trolley and came to the gate. I told the security guard that there is no written instruction that trolleys are not allowed. If there is no rule how you insist on such a rule?
He now becomes so rude and say I am the rule.
I requested him please show me your identity. He refused. I then decided to take a photo of the person. Then he snatched the phone from my hand.
Then threatened me let me see how you board the flight, and I will NOT allow you to board the flight.
After I went to the CISF staff. He then started telling lies to the CISF staff that I abused him. After i explained the incident, the CISF staff took the phone from him and gave to me.
His name starts with Jig….,. May be Jignesh and probably ending with Shah.
May I request you
1. to examine and provide the identity of the guard.
2. Please convey why small mini trolleys are not allowed in Mumbai Airport, while such trolleys are used at many airports all around the world.
3. If Delhi Airport can provide such facility, why a security guard should stop us from using such facility.
4. Finally, I would request you to take appropriate disciplinary action for criminal intimidation of a passenger and snatching private property and further threatening passenger NOT to allow to board the flight.
5. In fact, such arrogant abusive guys should not be in airport employee roles)
6. I also request you to inspect the CCTV cameras at the automatic gates installed after security check and retain the footage for verification of this criminal activity by a security guard. (after domestic security check)
