Booking reference: VWL|BOL. Etick reference 0651308687128 & 0651308687129. I am filing a complaint to because me Mrs Naseembanuismail Khalifa and my husband Mr Ismail Khalifa were due to fly back to the UK on Sunday 5/1/2025. Our booking reference VWLBOL for flight number SV773 departing from Mumbai at 2.35am to Jeddah arriving at 5.30am was delayed to depart at 6am same morning but then cancelled at the last minute. When we checked in we specifically asked if all the flights were ok to the check in staff, they told everything was fine and issued all boarding passes from Mumbai to Jeddah and Jeddah to Birmingham (UK). We paid for excess baggage which cost us £218.95 (INR22517) and this was not necessary as our flight was cancelled. While waiting to board at gate we were notified 1 hour before departure that our flight has been cancelled. We were given another flight at the time in Air India 6/1/25 but when the Saudia desk representatives at Mumbai Airport brought us back to the check in desk that flight had been cancelled again and rebooked on Saudia for the 16/1/2025. This was 10 days after our original return date to UK. This was not possible to accept because we had to return to work on 6/1/2025 and we had no accommodation in Mumbai after the 5/1/2025. We faced a lot of distress at Mumbai airport because we were not told of this cancellation until it was time to board the flight. It took us another 3 hours to return back from immigration and another 2 hours before we got our checked in baggage returned to us. During this time, we asked the Saudia check in staff at Mumbai airport to help us, and they did not offer us any other flights. After waiting for whole night, we were not offered any food or accommodation and told we had to find our own accommodation/food and flights. Staff were very unhelpful at Mumbai airport. With very limited internet access we had to search and book our own flights online. The only flight we could find at last minute was Emirates flight EK503 and EK039 – departing 6/1/2025 at 7.20pm this cost us £2,356.59 . We then had to book into Niranta transit hotel at Mumbai Airport for 1 night which cost us £154.17. We had to pay for food £8.36 and £12.25.
I want to be reimbursed for costs which we incurred due to the flight cancellation. I have all receipts and boarding passes, evidence to support my compensation claim.
