Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Unfair Practices at Mumbai Airport Terminal 2

I am writing to formally register a complaint regarding the recent changes in pick-up procedures at Mumbai Airport Terminal 2, specifically concerning the exorbitant fees imposed on passengers accessing the Departures lane for pick-up purposes.

Due to ongoing construction of metro work, the airport has discontinued pick-up points near the rickshaw stand, effectively limiting passengers’ options for pick-up to either the Departures lane or the designated area in P5, both of which incur substantial charges. Passengers are compelled to pay a hefty fee of ₹270 for a mere 5-minute pick-up or ₹200 for access to P5.

The lack of prior information regarding the relocation of pick-up points is deeply concerning. There were no clear indications or signage along the route to the airport, leaving passengers uninformed until they reach the exit point. If a decision was made to relocate pick-up spots outside the airport premises, it is imperative that this information be prominently displayed at the entry point to ensure passengers are aware of the changes beforehand.

The current arrangements at Mumbai Airport Terminal 2 suggest a lack of transparency and appear to exploit passengers by withholding crucial information until they reach the exit point, where they are then subjected to excessive fees. It is worth noting that Terminal 1 of Mumbai Airport has successfully implemented a pick-up spot for taxis and private cars, demonstrating the feasibility of providing accessible and fair alternatives.

I urge the airport authority to take immediate action to rectify this situation and cease what appears to be a predatory practice of exploiting passengers. The imposition of exorbitant fees, coupled with the dismissive attitude of personnel collecting fines, is unacceptable. No passenger should be made to feel financially burdened simply for utilizing airport services, especially when such fees are not adequately justified.

I trust that the airport authority will address this matter with the utmost urgency and professionalism, ensuring that the interests and rights of passengers are safeguarded.
