- Text of Complaint by Surajit Ghosh
This happened on 10th Sept. 2024. My sister Soma Ghosh (passenger) is an Indian and married to a disabled person who is a Bangladeshi refugee, they were harassed by the immigration officer at Mumbai International Airport. They’re Paris residents, and the prolonged, unnecessary grilling by the immigration officer left them stressed and scrambling to catch their flight with their two little daughters, causing my sister to leave her purse with cab fare (around 50 Euros) at the desk. As people of the subcontinent, India had a responsibility to support displaced communities like ours, not add to our hardships when we visit family to perform things like rites. It’s not for fun that we left our country. Every time we come, we then leave the country with a heavy heart, and at airport it is an emotionally charged moment. After 75+ years of struggle, we are still trying to rebuild our lives. If your government can’t help, at least don’t make our life harder. Please address this cruelty. Dhanyawaad.
