I traveled via Air India flight from JFK to Mumbai on October 23, 2023. I had requested wheelchair for my entire trip as I have knee and breathing problem. However, upon landing at the Mumbai Airport, I could not get anyone to help me with wheelchair or guide me to right place to request assistance. I found one person but he wanted me to pay Rs. 1,000.00 for a service that is free every where in the world. When I ask who can help me the guy said I can go to complaint department office and file a complaint. I did not have enough time for this. But looking at the corrupt staff’s response I felt the complaint office will ask me for more money. Truly shameful for Mumbai International Airport Authorities for not having wheelchair access for elderly travelers and allowing such corrupt practices. I hope Airport Authorities will take this complaint seriously and make wheelchair assistance readily available for its elderly travelers. Additionally, I hope senior officers will investigate and take necessary action to eliminate staff members asking for bribe .
