I travelled to Muscat from Mumbai International Airport by Oman Air flight WY 0204 on 23 July 2022 and crossed the security around 2.30 pm . In the security my LENOVO LAPTOP – BLACK COLOUR- MODEL THNKPAD T 14 with SERIAL NUMBER PF 33037 J. appears to have been exchanged by mistakenly with another laptop looking similar. The laptop I currently have with me is LENOVO THINKPAD T470S , and the name on the screen appears as ” MOHAMMED FAROOK”.
I have already reported this matter with Greater Mumbai Police online and have obtained an acknowledgment. I have also reported it in Lost and found section of Mumbai International Airport. This has caused a lot of distress to me as my Laptop has lot of my official and personal contents. I have not been still able to trace the other passenger who carried my laptop .
My suggestion to authorities when you insist we put only the laptop in the tray without other contents such as laptop bag or pouch, you should provide a token and in th eother end while collecting the laptop after the screening we should produce the token. This system exists in some of the airports in India such as Chennai. This way the mistake of similar looking laptops getting exchanged will be reduced. Further when i call to enquire if anyone else has complained about the exchange the phone numbers are never reachable or no one picks up. You should understand the sensitivity of the matter as Laptops contain very personal data and a better response can be expected from the Mumbai International Airport Service support.
