Hi there,

I was treated poorly by security staff when I was attending my security check. I was declined for allowance of a weightlifting belt’s chain in my hand luggage.

When I had put it through Heathrow, a much larger bigger airport, I was allowed freely.

When questioning why my item was declined, I was given a dirty look and then told it was to be discarded and no other option was possible. I questioned again and then after being lied to I was told that I was allowed it to be put in to my check in luggage.

This miscommunication for 15 minutes from your staff member, caused me a delay. When I questioned him again, he grabbed my passport and boarding pass and told me to go back and put it in the check in without my consent.

When I arrived at check-in the lady told me I would miss my flight and therefore it had to be discarded.

Because of poor communication and rudeness of your staff member. I have now lost a huge sum of money as the belt I had bought was of expensive quality.

The staff told me to keep the belt without the chain, how am I expected to lift without the chain? Just have the belt around me falling off without allowance of having the weight attached?

I am requesting a sum for compensation of distress and damages caused by your staff member.

He without my consent took my belongings, was disrespectful and deceiving; and nearly costed my time when I was about to miss my flight.

To include to your staff member, he wore a black mask which wasn’t even over his nose, posing a health risk. This unprofessionalism will be recorded by me.

I am expecting a positive outcome and reply for this matter as I am not afraid to publicly shame this facility for bad conduct.

I am assuming he decided to act like this due to my inability to speak Hindi completely.

And I expect a necessary punishment for the staff member who decided to treat me poorly.

Harassment of a mother for travelling alone with a child.

I am a mother to a 7 year old child and a lawyer. I often travel alone with my kid to my hometown from Mumbai. At the Security Screening by the lady officers, I am “shamed” for getting my little boy along with me for screening. I am told that only upto 5 year old boys are permitted to accompany their mothers for security screening. When I question how can a 7-8 year old manage to go through the men’ line, without getting lost, without getting anxious afraid, without me as his mother getting anxious about his well being, even worse what if he’s kidnapped or sexually harassed while I am in the security check – I am given no assurance of his safety. Infact I am told it’s my lookout, rule is a rule. I haven’t been able to find such rules over the Internet. However, if this is your rule then you must change it as soon as possible. In fact, in the security rules I have found that at no stage can a child be separated from his parent for security purposes. I would strongly request you to not make travel by a mother with a child a harassment. It’s nothing short of shameful.
