Yesterday we had parked our car for less than 1 hour in P6 Premium Parking (46 minutes to be precise). According to the Premium parking slabs, we should have been charged Rs.400 (31-60 minutes is Rs.400 for private vehicles as mentioned on csmia website). But the board was reflecting Rs.500 (commercial vehicle rate) even though the In time and Out time was CLEARLY showing parking time of LESS THAN 1 HOUR and ours was a private vehicle !
When we pointed this out to the parking attendant on duty, he spoke very rudely and said just pay 500Rs. and leave. The sams thing happened to the car next to us in the next lane. When we told him that, he said it’s a commercial vehicle !!! (It was a private vehicle just like ours). He forced us to pay 500 and kept shouting at us. He knew it was a mistake/scam but he refused to admit it. We then parked the car to the side and my driver went back and did not leave till we got the Rs.100 refund from the attendant.
I then called the Airport helpline 022 66851010 and gave this complaint. The lady I spoke to was fully aware of this issue and said many complaints were coming for the last 1 week and that the parking attendants are also aware of it. She also said that ‘we are working to resolve this issue’.
So, despite knowing that the wrong parking charges are being levied (private vehicles are being charged according to commercial vehicle rates) , the parking staff were rude, argumentative and refusing to accept that the mistake was on their side.
Either this is a genuine glitch in the system or some massive fraud is being run by the contractor who is looking after T2 parking charges. You need to fix this immediately as this is a blatant violation of the fixed and published parking charges. We frequently fly out of T2 so we will be keeping a watch on the parking charges this week. This is unethical and unacceptable and blatant cheating of the public.
