I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the unacceptable and unprofessional behaviour of an airport security officer at the Mumbai Departures security checkpoint.
During our security screening, my wife and I were subjected to harassment by a security officer who unjustifiably withheld my boarding pass, seemingly in an attempt to delay us from reaching our flight. The officer addressed my wife in an extremely disrespectful manner and conducted himself in a highly unprofessional and immature way. Additionally, he did not adhere to proper security protocols.
When his superior intervened and instructed him to allow us to proceed, the officer directly refused to comply with his superior’s directive. He further attempted to delay us from collecting our belongings and leaving the security area. His actions were not only inappropriate but also a clear misuse of authority.
Moreover, the officer appeared frustrated by the fact that we did not speak Hindi. Despite us calmly explaining that we are Sri Lankan nationals residing in Australia and were simply returning home from our trip, he continued to exhibit unnecessary hostility.
This experience was deeply distressing and unacceptable. I request that a thorough investigation be conducted into this incident and appropriate actions be taken to ensure that such misconduct does not occur again. I would appreciate a formal response outlining the steps taken to address this matter.
