If you travelling on an Indigo Airlines flight, it is necessary that you must be aware of the Indigo baggage allowance that you are permitted to take on the flight.

This information is important because Airlines levy heavy charges if the baggage is in excess of the limits.

As one can see, Indigo Airlines has liberal rules with regard to baggage allowance. However, the Indigo baggage allowance varies depending on the type of ticket the passenger is travelling on.

Passengers who are travelling on a Lite fare are not entitled to any checked in baggage allowance. If they desire to check in their baggage, they are liable to pay a fee of Rs. 200 for every 15 kgs.

Lite fare passengers are, however, entitled to carry a hand baggage of up to 7 kgs.

Passengers travelling on the Regular Fare and the Flexible Fare are eligible to check in luggage of up to 15 kgs for no extra cost. They are also entitled to carry hand baggage of up to 7 kgs.

Infants are not entitled for any free checked baggage allowance for both domestic and international.

charges for excess baggage

Passengers booked on the Lite Fare will have to pay INR 200 to avail 15kg baggage allowance for checked-in baggage.
Passengers travelling on the domestic sector carrying more than the allowed baggage limits will be charged a rate of INR 400 per kg (inclusive of GST, if applicable).
Passengers travelling on the international sector will be charged a flat rate of INR 525 per kg.

Upon delivery of the Customer’s Baggage which the Customer wishes to check in on IndiGo, IndiGo upon being satisfied with its condition will take custody of, and issue a Baggage identification Tag for, each piece of Checked Baggage.

Checked Baggage must have the passenger’s name or other personal identification affixed to it.

charges for special baggage

IndiGo charges a fee of INR 1000/- (or equivalent in foreign currency), for the following Checked-in Baggage:

(i)  any special baggage like sports equipment, skiing equipment, golf bags, bicycle, surf boards, snow board, water ski, scuba diving equipment, kayak, etc.; and

(ii) LCD and LED TVs of size more than 99.06 cms, including cartons.

This fee is applicable over and above any excess baggage charges that might be applicable.

The fee will apply per piece of checked in baggage, per Sector, (inclusive of GST, if applicable). The weight of such baggage will be considered part of the permissible baggage allowance and standard excess baggage charges, if applicable, will be levied.

charges for carriage of LCD / LED TVs

IndiGo’s rules for carriage of LCD / LED TVs on board its flights are as under:

  • Maximum two (02) LCD / LED TVs can be carried by one Customer in checked in baggage.
  • Maximum size of LED / LCD TV that shall be accepted for carriage is 139.7 cms.
  • The checked-in baggage weight (including that of TV(s)) in excess of the free baggage allowance will be charged at the applicable Excess Baggage rate. Further, LED / LCD TV will attract additional handling charges, as detailed above.
  • Carriage of TVs shall also be governed by other applicable terms and conditions contained in Conditions of Carriage with regard to carriage of fragile items, etc.

Charges for hand baggage

IndiGo oermits passengers to carry without any charges one Hand Baggage of maximum 7 Kgs.

The Hand Baggage must have a maximum size not exceeding the following dimension:
length 55cm + width 35cm + height 25cm.

Passengers accompanying infants are allowed an additional piece of Hand Baggage upto 7 Kgs, not exceeding above size.

In case Hand Baggage is found to be overweight at the boarding gate a flat rate of INR 400 per kg per sector (inclusive of GST) would be charged towards excess Hand Baggage charges.

Passengers carrying more than the allowed baggage limit will be charged the following excess baggage fees at the time of check-in:

IndiGo offers great prices on purchasing prepaid excess baggage when you are travelling on your domestic IndiGo flight and connecting to/from another international airline. This allowance is over and above your eligible baggage allowance.

Terms and Conditions for purchasing prepaid excess baggage for International Connecting Flights:
Excess baggage needs to be booked at least 24 hours before the journeyŸ
The International flight should be within 24 hours of the domestic flightŸ
Passengers should produce relevant international travel documents atŸ the time of check-in- failing which IndiGo will charge excess baggage as per applicable rates at the airpor

    Dear Sir Good Day,

    Me and my friends booking ticket in Indigo connecting flight Bahrain to Mumbai (Departing Flight 6E1404 (A320) 24 Mar 2023 Check-in Closes: 21:30 hrs) and Mumbai to Manglore (6E6674 (A320) 25 Mar 2023 Check-in Closes: 06:10 hrs), My question connecting flights allowed T.V(42 inch)?
